Beyond Consoling

There's an 80% chance I have herpes. The test results won't be in until next Monday. What I thought was a yeast infection that I passed on to the Jock may in fact be something he shared with me. I am beyond upset at this news and really don't know what to do. I just keep thinking that I've only slept with 4 men in my entire life! I have been far from promiscuous.

Email me if you want to talk. I have two good friends who this has happened to. My thoughts are with you.

One of which is me....

I know this can come as a great shock, but it's not the end of the world, or of your relationships, or even your sex life. Talk things over with a doctor, that should help you gain some perspective. What I've learned since my diagnosis is that HSV is far more prevalent than usualy talked about. 80% of US pop has HSV1 and about 40% has HSV2.

It's managable, and I've found that my sex life hasn't really been altered very much, and most people are very understanding and willing to deal with it as just any other relationship issue. Of course there are going to be some who don't, and those relationships just aren't meant to be. I still need to work myself up to having that talk a week or so into the relationship, and it's not fun, but so far no one has backed out because of it. You'll be fine, if in fact that's what you have. Try not to get worked up about it until you know for sure, at least. Cheers.
